In conjunction with Community Health and Wellbeing Week, WECHC held their 21st Annual General Meeting on September 29th, 2014.
Over 50 guests attended the AGM, including the elected Board of Directors (returning members: David James, Chair; Donovan Ladner, Vice-Chair; Mervin Coleman; Jennifer Ford, Secretary/Treasurer; Robert White; Ruth Martin; Richard Leatham; Jennifer Ford; Dan McKillop, Membership Secretary; Greg Simpson; and new to the Board: Marilyn Mitchell). The Centre said farewell to Thomas Hurley, who stepped down from the Board after 4 years of service.
Bob Hahn, Auditor from Gordon Hardcastle, presented his overview of the audited financials and reported on the Centre’s strong internal controls and balanced budget. He congratulated the Centre on another successful fiscal year.
Concluding the meeting portion of the evening, guest speaker Dr. Ian McKillop presented an engaging talk on innovations in data, evidence and application systems in the health sector. He also spoke on the Canadian Index of Wellbeing. McKillop is an associate Professor with the School of Public Health and Health Systems at the University of Waterloo.
The Centre would like to thank all those in attendance, our volunteers and staff, and a special thank you to Catherine McCallum (Charlie’s Acres); Pauline Intven Casier (Canadale Nurseries) for decorations and John Mairleitner (Tall Tales Café) for catering.
