The Client and Family Advisory Council (the “Council”) was formed in January 2018. The Council acts as a sounding panel to the Board of Directors (the “Board”) and the Executive Director (the “ED”) of the West Elgin Community Health Centre (the “Centre”). The Council is comprised of non-Board members who have the skills and expertise to give the Board and ED feedback as appropriate. At least four meetings are scheduled annually.
The Council will have a maximum of nine members, including one from the Board. The Council will report through the Board representative to the Board. Council members should have strong connections to the local community and represent diverse groups, including different locations, genders, ages, and program and service needs. Most committee members should be either primary care clients, participants in programs, or family members of those individuals. Other broader community members who are not involved with the Centre can be considered for the Council. Members will be voted in for a two year term and can serve a maximum of six years.
The Council will:
- Bring the needs of the community to the attention of the Centre.
- Offer feedback on new program development proposals as requested.
- Receive from clients and community members, and bring back to the Centre, items of concern for discussion, comment and feedback.
- Help to bring awareness of the Centre to other groups, agencies and citizens in the community and help involve those groups in the work of the Centre.
- Help with strategies to promote the Centre in the community and expand the reach of the Centre.
